Time to demand action from key agencies on the Street Safety Act
The unanimous passage by the Board of Supervisors of the Street Safety Act is a big win. The Street Safety Act is a blueprint for how San Francisco can accelerate progress to end severe and fatal traffic crashes, and we’re so grateful to District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar for thoughtfully crafting and championing it.
But now it’s time to turn the Street Safety Act into action. This resolution will only be words on paper unless elected and agency leaders act to make it real.
The key agencies need detailed plans and directives with deadlines, regular interagency meetings, metrics that measure what matters, and be held accountable in delivering results.
That’s why we’re showing up at the Commission meetings over the next several weeks to ensure the Street Safety Act is fully on the radar – and these agencies know we’re watching.
Join us at one or more upcoming meetings to give public comment:
- Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 1:00PM: SFMTA Board of Directors
- Wednesday, October 22, 5:00PM: SF Fire Department Commission
- Thursday, October 23, 11:00AM: Department of Public Works Commission
- Monday, November 3, 4:00PM: Department of Public Health Commission
- Wednesday, November 5, 5:30PM: SF Police Department Commission
We’ll share talking points beforehand and meet you there. Note that very few people attend most Commission meetings, so public comment makes a big impression!
Together, we’ll give crucial momentum to the new Street Safety Act – and turn it into real results.
