Thank you from the bottom of my heart for our best #GivingTuesday ever!
Monday morning, our Board president Karen Rhodes decided to personally match every single donation to Walk SF on Giving Tuesday.
I was blown away by Karen’s offer. It speaks volumes of how invested she is in Walk SF’s mission, and her desire for Walk SF as a small nonprofit to have the resources needed to succeed.
Karen’s generosity – and the 116 people who donated a total of $19,406 yesterday – made this the biggest Giving Tuesday in Walk SF’s history!
I can’t tell you how much this means to me and to Walk SF’s lifesaving work.
First, as executive director, this time of year is honestly pretty stressful for me. Walk SF needs to raise $200,000 in gifts and memberships before year-end to start 2025 on sound financial footing. Going into Giving Tuesday, we still had $121,000 to raise but thanks to everyone who stepped up yesterday, that number is now down to $82,000. This is a huge gift and relief to me!
It’s also incredible to have so many people step up for safe streets in our city.
This is how Walk SF can do the policy work, advocacy, and organizing to win change. Your generosity is how we can work every day on behalf of everyone who walks.
So if you haven’t made your year-end gift, or aren’t yet a Walk SF member, please step up today.
With you at our side, we can make the City’s second decade of Vision Zero what it needs to be: comprehensive, bold, and at the scale needed to succeed. We can fight for safe intersections everywhere, with proven solutions like protected daylighting, turn calming, and pedestrian safety zones. We can the movement to #SlowOurStreets to prevent dangerous speeding on all streets, not just where the 33 speed cameras are coming in February.
Together, we can make San Francisco a city that prioritizes safety, people, and joy on our streets.
