Let’s win permanent car-free space on Shelley Drive in McLaren Park!

 In Uncategorized

When the JFK Promenade was made car-free early in the pandemic, so was a section of John Shelley Drive in McLaren Park.

Now, the car-free space on Shelley Drive West could become permanent like JFK Promenade!

This is on the agenda at two upcoming public meetings:

  • The Recreation & Parks Operating Committee on Thursday, June 1 at 2PM in Room 416 at City Hall.
  • The full Recreation & Parks Commission meeting on Thursday, June 15 at 10AM in Room 416 at City Hall. Shelley is item #10, so plan to call in around 10:45 am.

Call in with your support to the June 1 and/or June 15 meetings (view the agendas and call-in info here).

You can also send an email to Rec & Parks Commissioners at recpark.commission@sfgov.org.

Also afoot are ways to improve access, pedestrian use, bike use and calm traffic on other portions of Shelley Drive. Learn more.

Walk SF will share our strong support with Commissioners for car-free Shelley Drive West and hope you will, too.

Step by step, we can become a city that prioritizes safety and health on all streets!
