Walk & Roll to School Day
October 4, 2017 @ 8:00 am
Each year, on the first Wednesday in October, schools across San Francisco (and around the world) participate in this global celebration, with students from over 40 countries around the world, walking or rolling to school.
Don’t miss out on Walk & Roll to School Day on October 4, check to see if your school is participating.
If not, register your school today!
Today, 42% of San Francisco elementary school students live within walking distance of school, yet only 26% of students take the short journey. No matter what day of the year it is, if you have a child, don’t miss the chance to reap the many benefits of walking to school.
Most importantly, studies have shown children who walk to school enjoy both key health benefits and academic advantages, as well as getting more quality bonding time with parents. Additionally, the sense of independence a child feels by walking to school will help build self-confidence and give them a sense of accomplishment.
Kick off a healthy life-long habit by participating in Walk & Roll to School Day, then consider walking on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Remember
