Strong Advocacy to Slow Our Streets & Save Lives Webinar

January 25, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Slowing dangerous speeds is critical to improve roadway safety and advance Vision Zero. Join us to learn from pedestrian safety advocates at Walk San Francisco and their partners how to elevate advocacy efforts to address speed problems, build a coalition for change, and ensure efforts are effective and equitable.

Panelists include Jodie Medeiros and Marta Lindsey of Walk SF; and Eric Rozell of Tenderloin Traffic Safety Task Force. The Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco is home to many vulnerable communities who are disproportionately harmed by high-speeds and serious traffic crashes due to historical underinvestments in safety, including streets designed for speed over safety. Tenderloin community leaders and others have joined forces with Walk SF to launch an impressive advocacy campaign focused on convincing leaders to shift priorities to safety over speed. Read our report: Making San Francisco a ‘Safe Speeds City: Solutions to Slow Our Streets and Save Lives. We hope this discussion will help you initiate or further your on-the-ground advocacy campaign to Slow our Streets for safety!
