Excelsior Speed Survey

July 21, 2022 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Three volunteers standing on a Tenderloin street. One is holding a speed radar device and another is writing information down in a clipboard.

Speed is the #1 cause of severe and fatal crashes in San Francisco – which means we need to take on speed in every possible way.

That’s what Walk SF’s Slow Our Streets campaign is all about. As part of the campaign in 2022 (and with your help!), we’re collecting speed data across the entire city. Read the recent San Francisco Chronicle article about the Slow Our Streets campaign and what speed surveys are all about.

You’re invited to join Walk SF and the Excelsior Action Group in collecting speed data in the Excelsior neighborhood. Every year, 100 people are injured in traffic crashes in the Excelsior.

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

Time: Thursday, July 21 from 2:30-4:00pm.

Location: We’ll meet at Excelsior Playground (579 Madrid). After a short training, groups of three will walk to locations nearby to collect speed data.

We’ll provide everything needed – no prior knowledge or experience needed. This will involve standing for over 90 minutes, including approximately 20 minutes of walking. This event is completely outdoors.

Questions? Email Walk San Francisco’s Vision Zero Organizer, Brian Haagsman at brian@walksf.org.
