Feel great about your support of safe streets

Peak2Peak is more than an unforgettable day of exploration and adventure. Every registration helps power Walk SF’s work to make San Francisco’s streets safer and more walkable for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Your participation directly supports our advocacy for safer street design, slower speeds, and policies that save lives. Every mile you walk helps build a safer city.

The Route

This year’s route might be our most surprising yet. For the first time in Peak2Peak history, we’ll journey entirely through San Francisco’s southeast neighborhoods, from Portola to Visitacion Valley and Bayview to Hunters Point, uncovering some of the city’s best-kept secrets. Expect hidden stairways, spectacular viewpoints, colorful public art, unexpected green spaces, and fascinating places even many lifelong San Franciscans have never seen. It’s an off-the-beaten-path adventure that promises to be one for the books.

The route starts at Louis Sutter Playground in McLaren Park and ends at Barebottle Brewing in Bernal Heights. It will take 6 to 7 hours to complete, depending on group pace.

Note that Peak2Peak routes include uneven paths, dirt trails, steep hills, and stairway climbs, as well as street terrain. Participants must be in good health, without mobility limitations, and able to walk for several hours at a steady pace (about 2.5 mph).

Tickets

Single or group tickets can be purchased. We encourage you to team up with friends and colleagues to make it a social event of the season! Info for Participants

Where and when to meet us: Louis Sutter Playground in McLaren Park (1150 Wayland St at University) on the baseball field. Departure times are from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. We’ll send a reminder email to ticket buyers the week of the event that includes your exact start time and group assignment. Please be prepared to depart anytime between 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. How to get there and away:

Louis Sutter is accessible via public transit or bike share. The closest bus route is Muni’s 54 Felton bus line, which stops right on the edge of Louis Sutter. Other Muni bus lines that stop within several blocks of Louis Sutter are the 8 Bayshore, 9 San Bruno, 29 Sunset, 44 O’Shaughnessy, and 56 Rutland. The 54 Felton connects to BART at Balboa Park and Daly City stations, while the 44 O’Shaughnessy connects to BART at Glen Park station, making both buses a good transfer option for those traveling to or within San Francisco via the BART system. There is also a Bay Wheels bike share dock within walking distance of Louis Sutter.

This year’s route will end at Barebottle Brewing Company (located at 1525 Cortland Avenue, in Bernal Heights) for our after-walk party. Muni’s 24 Divisadero bus line runs in front of the brewery, and the 9 San Bruno, 23 Monterey, and 67 Bernal Heights bus lines stop within a few blocks of the brewery. The 9, 23, and 67 connect to the BART system, and the 24 connects to Muni Metro at Castro Street station.

What to bring: Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes with sufficient tread for natural dirt paths. Dress in layers. Don’t forget sun protection (hat, sunscreen) and hiking poles if you have them; they may be helpful on the natural paths. IMPORTANT: Please bring a refillable water bottle. There are filling points in Louis Sutter Park, plus at parks and our snack station along the route. We’ll have snacks available, but feel free to bring along your favorite goodies.

Restrooms: Available at Louis Sutter Playground, plus three public restrooms along the route.

Dogs: We love our four-legged friends; they are welcome! Don’t forget their supplies (leash, water bowl, snacks, and cleanup bags). For their safety, please keep them leashed during the walk.
