Get Out: How to Safely Enjoy the Outdoors with Kids This Summer (WEBINAR)
June 30, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Outdoor activity and nature are so important for our mental and physical health during coronavirus. But how do parents and caretakers get kids outside safely in their neighborhoods and beyond?
Walk San Francisco, together with the San Francisco Safe Routes to School Partnership, is hosting a webinar to give you the inspiration and information you need for getting out safely.
Health and outdoor education experts will answer your questions on how to best navigate social distancing in different situations. You’ll also get helpful guidance and ideas that will apply to once the school year starts, too.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Matt Dove, Director of Bicycle Programs, YBike
- Tracey Packer, Director of Community Health Equity and Promotion, SF Department of Public Health
- Dr. Vincent Tamariz, Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at California Pacific Medical Center
This conversation will be moderated by Aly Geller with Walk San Francisco. There will be time for your questions in the webinar; you can also email your questions to Sam Kwan.
Register now for the webinar on June 30 at 12:00PM.
About the speakers:
Matt Dove, Parent & Director of Bicycle Programs, YBike
Matt Dove practically grew up on a bike. He spent his early years exploring Dorchester and the Greater Boston Area sitting behind or riding next to his dad, which led to a number of careers involving two-wheeled transportation. For 12 years, Matt has been working at the YMCA of San Francisco’s bike education program, YBike, where he’s been helping other people’s kids experience that same exhilarating joy of freedom of movement that Matt had in his childhood.
Tracey Packer, Director of Community Health Equity and Promotion, SF Department of Public Health
With 16 years of experience in working directly with the community in preventing HIV, Tracey is now the Director of Community Health Equity and Promotion with an equitable lens in developing programs and education for all. Recently, Tracey has been activated as a Disaster Service Worker, as the Community Mitigation and Engagement Lead in San Francisco.
Dr. Vincent Tamariz, Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at California Pacific Medical Center
Dr. Tamariz is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Sutter’s California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Van Ness campus hospital in San Francisco. The modern new facility opened in March 2019 and includes its own pediatric emergency department, as well as an inclusive, healing environment, where quality, technology, safety, efficiency and personal touches are the norm. Dr. Tamariz has more than 25 years of experience treating children and teens. While at CPMC, Dr. Tamariz makes his patient rounds with the help of Posey, his gentle Labrador therapy dog. He is a long-time resident of San Francisco and enjoys hiking with Posey and photography in his free time
