Vigil on May 13 for the ten people who have died walking and biking this year
We lost another pedestrian in a traffic crash Saturday.
A 66-year-old man was hit at Hyde and Golden Gate Avenue, just one block from where Janice Higashi was fatally hit in March while walking to lunch during jury duty.
Ten people have now died while walking and biking in 2019 on San Francisco streets.
This is a crisis, and city leaders must address it as such. And we cannot let anyone become numb to what’s happening. These are people, not numbers.
That’s why we will hold a vigil at the site of this most recent deadly crash for all those we have lost while walking and biking this year.
We will gather Monday, May 13 from 5:00-6:00PM at Hyde Street and Golden Gate Avenue in the Tenderloin. Please join if you can and bring flowers if possible.
We will not stand by passively as lives are lost so brutally in preventable crashes.
