SF Urban Film Fest
November 13, 2017 - November 19, 2017
Change is the theme at the 4th Annual SF Urban Film Fest
Tickets for all events running from November 13 – 19, available now.
The San Francisco Urban Film Festival (SFUFF) will feature works that highlight issues, with which cities around the world are grappling — from climate change, income inequality, and affordable housing, to lack of effective transit options. While there are numerous issues that have an impact on the quality of life of urban dwellers, at the same time, the people who live in cities are also agents of amazing change – resisting, strategizing, building and rebuilding the environment around them.
This year’s SFUFF program examines this dynamic to spotlight insights and share new ideas. Films featured in this year’s festival, will include:
- “Arc of Justice” about the origins of the community land trust movement;
- “The North Pole” about Oaklanders adapting to climate change and fierce real estate market forces; and
- “Mama Agatha” about immigrant women learning how to bike for the first time in Amsterdam, show the grit and ingenuity of folks banding together to shape their local communities.
SFUFF’s special event this year, Queer Pioneers: Cycles of Displacement, is a focus on the role of urban space in social movements with a focus on the long-standing and complex LGBTQ community in San Francisco, on Saturday, November 18 at 518 Valencia.
The evening program will include rarely screened films of LGBTQ life, a live performance, a panel discussion and a party with a DJ, light dinner and drinks.
SFUFF will also feature two free film screening with panel discussion events on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at SPUR.
The events will cover the topics of artists in the city and offer a perspective on the ongoing connections between civil rights and place, featuring James Baldwin’s “Take This Hammer”.
Event tickets now available on SFUFF.
