Walk SF Announces New Executive Director

As the city’s conversation about the use of delivery robots on sidewalks heats up, Walk San Francisco publicly announced its new executive director, Jodie Medeiros. Medeiros brings 10-years of urban livability nonprofit expertise to lead the charge to make San Francisco a world-class city for everyone who walks.

 

“San Francisco is a dynamic, rapidly growing and changing city, with varying needs competing for limited street space. Protecting the rights of everyone who walks is our #1 priority and I will ensure Walk SF continues to prioritize sidewalks for people. Walk SF will continue to champion Vision Zero by collaborating with diverse groups to create more safe and enjoyable neighborhoods across San Francisco,” said Medeiros.

 

“With the announcement that Jodie Medeiros will serve as Walk SF’s new executive director, we can expect even more strong advocacy to ensure that Vision Zero moves from vision to action,” said Leah Shahum, founder and executive director of the Vision Zero Network. “As an early adopter of Vision Zero, Walk SF’s leadership is more critical now than ever to ensure San Francisco’s commitment is matched by effective actions that prioritize safety and put people’s lives first on city streets.”

 

Every trip – whether by transit, bicycle, or car – begins and ends with walking, so the need to prioritize pedestrians is greater than ever. Each day in our city, more than three people walking are hit by cars on the city’s most dangerous streets. We can do better, and we will. We can change this through our Vision Zero advocacy and forward-thinking policies.
