Walktober: Southern Waterfront Walk

Join Walk San Francisco and walk leader Karen Rhodes for a Southern Waterfront Walk!
Our 5-mile route through Dogpatch, Mission Bay, and Pier 70 blends the city’s waterfront past with its rapidly changing future. We’ll explore pocket parks, the houseboats along Mission Creek, and China Basin Park, featuring a sandy beach overlooking McCovey Cove. From Bayfront Park, where pieces of the old Bay Bridge are part of the landscape, we’ll continue to the Chase Center, Crane Cove Park, and the booming Pier 70 development, featuring historic shipyards that once powered the city’s maritime industry. Throughout, we’ll note both successes and challenges in developing a lively, mixed-use neighborhood meant to accommodate walkers, cyclists, and transit users. The walk is a loop, finishing at our starting point.

Accessibility: The walk is a 5-mile loop mostly on city sidewalks and is very flat.
Meeting point: Breadbelly, 1070 Maryland St. Ste 122, SF. (Easy transit access via the 15, 55, and 48 buses and the T-Third streetcar.)
