The votes are in: San Francisco is getting a new oceanside park and promenade!
It’s official: San Francisco voters passed Measure K to create an oceanside park and promenade!
This is an incredible win for pedestrians and our entire city.
In a city where an average of three people are hit every day while walking, having significant safe spaces for pedestrians without the threat of dangerous traffic is crucial.
Like JFK Promenade, this is another big step toward a San Francisco that truly prioritizes safety, people, joy, and connection on our streets.
Again, we see that the majority of San Franciscans support safe streets. And we will continue to build on this.
We are also delighted that Measure B passed, which includes $63.9 million for street safety upgrades and Vision Zero projects. We need San Francisco to do much more to protect us as pedestrians, and now there are much-needed dollars to do that.
Thank you to all who were part of this historic campaign
We are so grateful to our good friends at Great Highway Park for leading this visionary campaign with incredible passion! We also want to thank KidSafe SF, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, and the many campaign volunteers for making this win possible, including those who volunteered at the Mission farmer’s market for many weeks.
Our big thanks go out to Mayor London Breed and Supervisors Engardio, Melgar, Preston, Dorsey, Mandelman, and Safaí for putting Ocean Beach Park on the ballot and championing this for our city.
A special thank you goes out to Walk SF members. Your membership makes our advocacy work possible!
