What we just sent the SFMTA Board – and speak out with us October 2 for safe intersections

In the past 6 weeks, four people have been hit and killed while simply walking in our city, including a 4-year old child. To change this, we must continue to use every opportunity to demand that City leaders keep us all safe when crossing the street.

The SFMTA Board meeting on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 3 is a big opportunity, and your voice is needed!

SFMTA staff will present on several Vision Zero-related topics, including how they will meet their commitment to bring pedestrian safety improvements to 900 intersections by the end of 2024 (here’s the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting – Item #12).

They need to see that many people are paying attention and demand progress for Vision Zero. This pressure will help keep SFMTA focused and not fall behind. Can you give public comment in person at City Hall or via phone?

Earlier today, we sent a letter to SFMTA Board members detailing what we believe is needed to ensure the SFMTA’s work to fix these 900 intersections gets done – and in a way to maximize safety benefits.

And thank you. Our City must do more to protect us. But whether that happens depends in part on all of us demanding action (again and again!).
