Walk SF’s 2022 Voter Guide: Yes on J, L, and N; No on I

Yes on J & N

Measure J reaffirms the 1.5 miles of car-free space on JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park that City leaders made permanent in April. What’s now called ‘JFK Promenade’ is the only significant safe street space for pedestrians in San Francisco. More than 300,000 people use it every month. A vote for J is a vote for keeping the JFK Promenade. Read the San Francisco Chronicle’s endorsement of Measure J.

Significant accessibility improvements including a free, 100% ADA parking lot have recently been added to Golden Gate Park – with more improvements to come. And Measure N would make the 800-space parking garage underneath the de Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences more affordable for San Francisco seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families. Yes on L

 

Measure L continues San Francisco’s ½ cent sales tax for transportation. This has been a core funding source for public transit (including Muni, BART, Caltrain, ferries, and paratransit) and street projects (including redesigning some of the most dangerous streets) for more than 30 years! Many needed pedestrian safety projects will not happen if L doesn’t pass – and every mode of transportation will suffer.

No on I

Measure I would take away JFK Promenade, bring back traffic to the Great Highway on weekends, and halt the City’s climate mitigation project on the Great Highway Extension that’s urgently needed to address coastal erosion and protect water quality.
