Peak2Peak 2025: Cheers to 21 years of exploring San Francisco (PHOTOS!)
Peak2Peak just turned the big 2-1 and we threw an unforgettable birthday bash. Over 300 walkers laced up their boots and raised their glasses to celebrate this milestone year on the peaks, stairways, and hidden trails of San Francisco. The day was packed with big climbs, bigger smiles, and endless reminders of why this city never stops wowing us.
“OM-I’ve never been here before!”
This year’s route was a knockout, stretching from Cayuga Park in the Outer Mission to car-free JFK Promenade in Golden Gate Park. We explored the under-the-radar neighborhoods of the OMI (Oceanview, Merced Heights, and Ingleside) and heard more “I’ve never been here before!” comments than we could count. Hidden nooks and crannies, jaw-dropping views, secret stairways, and plenty of glute-busting peaks. It was exactly the kind of adventure Peak2Peakers love and crave.
Old friends, new miles together
The peaks impressed, but the people stole the show. Peak2Peak felt like a joyful reunion: familiar names on the registration list, longtime volunteers ready to roll, plus friends, families, and office pals joining forces to take on the ultimate urban walking adventure. They cheered one another on, celebrated every summit, and embraced the journey together across 10 peaks and 10 spectacular miles.
This year’s prize for farthest traveled went to two sisters from the Carolinas who hopped on a plane just for Peak2Peak. And it wasn’t just humans coming out to crush peaks. We saw a surge in canine participants, many proudly sporting the Peak2Peak bandana.

Cheers to our volunteer dream team
Our volunteers are absolute walk-stars! From check-in to snacks, lunch, and merch, they kept everything running seamlessly with enough energy and smiles to light up the city.
A huge high-five to our expert walk leaders, whose guidance and enthusiasm carried us safely over each and every peak. You are the secret sauce that makes Peak2Peak what it is!
And a deep tip of the hat to Karen Rhodes, Eric Chase, and the WalkLab team for dreaming up and testing this year’s epic and unique route. Year after year, peak after peak, you keep outdoing yourselves.
Made possible by the generosity of our in-kind donors and sponsors
Huge thanks to Gu Energy Labs, JAMBAR, On the Run, Other Avenues, and Safeway for keeping everyone fueled and ready for adventure.
Shoutout to Radio Africa for the delicious lunch sandwiches and to The Whale’s Tail on JFK Promenade for setting us up with a cool spot to relax and cold drinks to toast the finish.
And we are deeply grateful to our sponsors for their generous support of Walk SF’s events. (Contact events@walksf.org if you’re already interested in sponsoring our 2026 events!)
Every step counts for safer streets
As we toasted Peak2Peak’s 21st, we were celebrating more than just hills and thrills. We were walking for change. Every single day, an average of three people are hit while walking in San Francisco. That is three too many. Walk SF is here to change that, and proceeds from every Peak2Peak ticket sold goes straight toward our advocacy work to make our streets safer.
Peak2Peak is our longest and most beloved fundraiser, and we’re so grateful to all participants and volunteers for making it a success.
The countdown is on for next year’s peak-tacular adventure
