We need the City’s new Vision Zero policy to put safe speeds front-and-center
Here we are, with the first speed cameras on our streets, and yet San Francisco currently has no Vision Zero policy!
This policy expired last year, a decade after the City first committed to a data-driven, interagency approach to end severe and fatal traffic crashes.
San Francisco needs a new Vision Zero policy now. And this policy must focus on what will prevent tragedies: bringing down speeds on all streets.
We believe Mayor Daniel Lurie can make Vision Zero a success story here in San Francisco if he demands a strong Vision Zero policy and action plan – and holds City agencies to deliver on it.
That means we need to show Mayor Lurie that people want him to embrace and lead on Vision Zero.
Read our recent letter to Mayor Lurie on what we want to see in the next Vision Zero policy and plan, and then echo our asks right now.
