History in the making for pedestrians with Ocean Beach Park opening April 12
Last November, San Francisco voters passed a ballot measure that will create an oceanside park and promenade on what is currently the Great Highway.
When this two-mile stretch of coastline is converted into a park this spring, it will be the largest pedestrianization project in California history!
Like JFK Promenade, this is another big step toward a San Francisco that truly prioritizes safety, people, joy, and connection on our streets.
We hope you will join Walk SF and partners, leaders, and volunteers at the grand opening of the to-be-named park on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 12:00 – 4:00PM. What to know right now:
- The park amenities you’ll see on April 12, from seating with ocean views and murals to play structures and exercise equipment
- How to submit your idea for what to name the new park by 5:00PM on Sunday, March 16
- Details for the grand opening of the park on Saturday, April 12 as they are posted
We are so grateful to Friends of Ocean Beach Park for leading this visionary campaign with incredible passion!
