AB 550 faces its first hurdle on Monday, April 26: how you can help

 In Uncategorized

Walk SF is proud to be a sponsor of Assemblymember David Chiu’s legislation, Assembly Bill 550.

AB 550 would mean San Francisco can finally pilot speed safety systems on the busiest streets with the highest crash rates. Speed safety systems are used in 100 other U.S. cities, and are a key contributor to New York City’s 25% reduction in pedestrian deaths.

AB 550 faces its first hurdle coming up on Monday, April 26 when it will be heard at the Assembly Transportation Committee. We need AB 550 to make it out of this Committee.

Here’s how you can help that happen:

  • Call into the hearing to share your support for AB 550. In state hearings, you just share your name, city, and say “I support.” AB 550 is the second item on the agenda on April 26 at 2:30PM. Please RSVP that you plan to speak and we’ll send you what you need to know. If you represent an organization, even better!
  • Sign on your organization as officially supporting AB 550. Walk SF is getting groups from across the city signed onto a letter that we’ll be submitting on Tuesday, April 20. Sign your organization on in support.

Be sure you’re following Walk SF on social media @walksf to help us spread the word to #PassAB550!
