The latest on walking during shelter-in-place
In a news conference today, Mayor London Breed made an emotional plea to San Franciscans to take care of each other by going outside as little as possible due to Covid-19. Walking to essential destinations and going outside for exercise is still allowed at this time, but Mayor Breed made it clear that these outings should be limited.
Walk SF fully supports Mayor Breed and public health leaders in taking action however needed to stop the spread of Covid-19. Keeping people safe and healthy is always the priority for us.
We know what walking is essential to our mental and physical health, and never has this been in such stark relief as now. We’re so grateful that we’re still allowed to walk for exercise. But when you walk, be sure to walk alone (or with household members is okay) and do everything possible to maintain 6+ foot social distancing at all times. Please share this guidance with others.
Thank you for standing with us during these challenging times. Know that we’re walking together in spirit, and that Walk SF continues to work on behalf of pedestrians every day.
