Walk San Francisco and San Francisco Transit Riders launch joint campaign

How do you get to the bus or train? Most likely, you walk! Walking and taking public transportation often go hand-in-hand.

Unfortunately, people who walk to transit may be more susceptible to traffic violence. Many of San Francisco’s most heavily utilized transit routes, such as the 14-Mission, 38-Geary and 8-Bayshore, align closely with San Francisco’s High-Injury Network – the roads with the highest rates of traffic collisions and deaths.

That’s why Walk San Francisco is teaming up with San Francisco Transit Riders. We want to be sure the voices of transit riders shape the city’s efforts to create safer streets. Our joint campaign, “Safe Routes To Transit: Door to Door, Not Just Stop to Stop,” will engage transit riders in our efforts to win the big changes needed to achieve Vision Zero.

People who ride transit, especially those who depend on it such as youth, seniors, and people with disabilities, deserve truly safe routes to transit. To learn more about this campaign or get involved, contact Natasha.
