Urge SFMTA to Act Now to Prevent a Tragic Surge in Crashes
Vehicle traffic is quickly rising… we can’t let traffic crashes rise, too
Vehicle traffic is quickly rising in the wake of some shelter in place restrictions being lifted. And traffic could ultimately far exceed previous levels as fewer people use public transportation, according to a recent Vanderbilt University study. Meanwhile more people than ever are walking and biking to get around, as well as to get exercise.
This means that without immediate action by the SFMTA, we will soon see a tragic surge in severe and fatal traffic crashes in San Francisco, especially among our most vulnerable. And the City’s Vision Zero goal will slip out of sight.
Please join Walk San Francisco in urging the SFMTA to quickly move forward fast, affordable, and proven solutions to make all of us safer on our streets now. There’s no time to waste in preventing devastating traffic crashes. You can read Walk San Francisco’s full letter sent to SFMTA on May 14.
