SUMMARY:Walktober: Southern Waterfront Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Walk San Francisco and walk leader Karen Rhodes for a Southern Waterfront Walk! \nOur 5-mile route through Dogpatch\, Mission Bay\, and Pier 70 blends the city’s waterfront past with its rapidly changing future. We’ll explore pocket parks\, the houseboats along Mission Creek\, and China Basin Park\, featuring a sandy beach overlooking McCovey Cove. From Bayfront Park\, where pieces of the old Bay Bridge are part of the landscape\, we’ll continue to the Chase Center\, Crane Cove Park\, and the booming Pier 70 development\, featuring historic shipyards that once powered the city’s maritime industry. Throughout\, we’ll note both successes and challenges in developing a lively\, mixed-use neighborhood meant to accommodate walkers\, cyclists\, and transit users. The walk is a loop\, finishing at our starting point. \nEvent Details:\nWhen: Friday\, October 23\nTime and duration: 9:00am – 11:30am\nAccessibility: The walk is a 5-mile loop mostly on city sidewalks and is very flat.\nMeeting point: Breadbelly\, 1070 Maryland St. Ste 122\, SF. (Easy transit access via the 15\, 55\, and 48 buses and the T-Third streetcar.) \nFree and open to all. Please RSVP by October 19.

SUMMARY:World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims
DESCRIPTION:Standing in Solidarity and Demanding Safer Streets\nWorld Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is a global event honoring the millions of people hurt and killed in traffic crashes each year. The event also demands an end to these devastating and preventable tragedies. \nSan Francisco will hold its eleventh annual World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on the afternoon of Sunday\, November 15\, 2026 outside of City Hall.  \nWhether you have been affected by a traffic crash as a victim or someone who has lost a friend or loved one\, there is a place for you at this event. This is a supportive space to reflect\, grieve\, and find comfort with those who understand. \nThe broader community is strongly encouraged to attend in solidarity. Your presence is deeply meaningful to victims and their loved ones. And together\, our presence shines a needed light on these tragedies and the urgent need for change. \nRead about and see photos from the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. \nWorld Day of Remembrance is hosted by San Francisco Bay Area Families for Safe Streets and Walk San Francisco. \nQuestions?
