Protect People, Calm Traffic at Market and Dolores

 In Actions, Public Policy

Join Walk SF to support an important project that will significantly improve pedestrian safety and comfort at Market and Dolores.

Planning Commission Hearing
Thursday, March 14
12:00 noon
Commission Chambers, City Hall – Room 400

Ask the Commission to approve the proposed plan to widen sidewalks by 14 feet and create a single-lane section of Dolores Street, with smaller bulb-outs at 14th Street. This will have major benefits for walking conditions at what is now a long, dangerous crossing on a high-speed street.

If approved, this design could set a strong precedent for development projects happening along this corridor (and citywide). These improvements are part of the Whole Foods development at 2001 Market.

Market and Dolores Street PlanYour support will help win many improvements:
Sidewalk bulb-outs; a public plaza; the extension of the Dolores Street median to Market Street; special paving in the crosswalk across Dolores Street at Market Street; raised crosswalk and bulb-outs on Clinton Park alley;and a reduction from four to two lanes of traffic on the first block of Dolores Street, to calm traffic significantly.

Come out to lend your voice for safer streets, or send an email of support to the Planning Commission at: commissions.secretary@sfgov.org.
