Staff:

Nicole Schneider, Executive Director
Nicole leads Walk San Francisco’s policy and programmatic work, strategic communications, administration and operations. Nicole came to Walk SF in 2013 with a background in active transportation, urban planning, and public health. As a consultant, Nicole helped develop climate change adaptation plans for the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Program on Health, Equity and Sustainability, and provided bicycle and pedestrian planning services to the Alameda County Transportation Commission. Previously, Nicole worked at Prevention Institute, training community groups in policy and media advocacy strategies for healthy, equitable places. Nicole has served on the Caltrans District 4 Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the City of Berkeley Transportation Commission. Nicole holds a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. 

Natalie Burdick, Membership and Volunteer Director
Natalie directs Walk San Francisco’s membership, volunteer, community events, and outreach. Natalie joined Walk SF in 2012 after five years in marketing and development at Santa Monica’s Heal the Bay, where she grew the environmental nonprofit’s social media, third party events, and managed direct marketing programs for the 10,000 member organization. Prior to her water-quality advocacy experience, she spent fifteen years in executive marketing, product marketing, and project management roles in customer relationship management (CRM) and open source start-ups in the software industry.

Genaro Escarzaga, Safe Routes to School Family and Schools Program Coordinator
Genaro joined Walk San Francisco in 2014 after leading the Health CPS Project at Active Transportation Alliance in Chicago.  Prior to his capacity-building work with English- and Spanish-speaking parents to identify both barriers and potential solutions and strategies to encourage walking and biking, Genaro was a Bicycling Ambassador for the City of Chicago, and a Youth Program Instructor for West Town Bikes.
