Celebrate Walk to School Day at your school
On Wednesday, October 3, celebrate Walk to School Day, an international event that brings children, parents, school staff and community members together to make neighborhoods safer and more pleasant for walking.
Kicking off a healthy habit at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School
Thanks to the support of Walk SF members, San Francisco is now the state’s first city to implement lower 15-mile-per hour speed limits on a major scale. The lower school zone speeds will calm traffic, protect pedestrians and make it safer and easier for everyone to walk.
As you join us for Walk to School Day, look for the new 15-mph signs around 181 schools–public and private, kindergarten through 12th-grade–throughout the city.
Walk to School Day is a great opportunity to start a healthy habit for the year — and for a lifetime — by kicking off Walking School Buses, Walking Wednesdays, and more!
